Choose a file or paste SVG markup with Ctrl+V / ⌘V

Compress SVG files online for smaller icons, logos and illustrations. This free SVG optimizer uses SVGO to remove unnecessary markup and optimize paths, colors and groups. Open a file or paste SVG code, review the result and download a minified SVG. Processing stays in your browser.

  1. No file uploads or account required
  2. Inspect the artwork and optimized SVG markup
  3. Keep your viewBox and control optimization settings

How to compress an SVG file

  1. Open an .svg file, drop it into the pane, or paste markup.
  2. Review the optimized image and original versus optimized file sizes. Scroll to zoom, drag to pan, or choose Fit to see the whole SVG. Switch to Markup to inspect the SVG code.
  3. Start with the default settings. Adjust number precision, transform precision, multipass or individual optimization features if needed. Changes update the result automatically.
  4. Copy the optimized markup or download the .min.svg file.

Reduce SVG file size for icons, logos and design exports

SVG exports from design tools such as Illustrator, Inkscape and Figma can contain comments, editor data, redundant groups or long coordinates. What can be removed depends on the export. Review each file before using the optimized version in a website, icon library or component.

An SVG minifier cleans up the code that describes vector artwork. It does not convert the image to pixels or resize its visible dimensions. Use it when you need smaller SVG markup while keeping the vector format.

Minify SVG markup with SVGO

SVGO removes comments, editor metadata and redundant markup, and can shorten colors and rewrite paths. Multipass repeats optimization to find further reductions. Leave Prettify off for compact output; enable it when readable indentation matters more than the smallest file.

Balance precision and file size

Number precision starts at 3 decimal places, and transform precision starts at 5. Lower values can shorten coordinates but may shift curves or fine details. Increase precision if the artwork changes, and test the SVG at the sizes where you plan to use it.

Keep responsive scaling and useful references

The optimizer keeps the viewBox, and ID cleanup and title and description removal are off by default. The viewBox defines how the artwork scales. Keep IDs that your CSS or JavaScript targets, and keep titles and descriptions when they provide accessible text. Other cleanup features can change styling, animation or hidden elements, so test the result in your website or app.

Compare SVG bytes and gzip sizes

The size display compares the original and optimized SVG markup. Turn on Compare gzipped to see an estimate of compressed transfer sizes; the download is still an ordinary .min.svg file, not SVGZ. Already compact files may not get smaller. The tool accepts one UTF-8 SVG at a time, with no fixed file-size limit; browser memory and a 30-second processing timeout limit large or complex files.
